depends on what kind of eye makeup you're wearing. regular formulas of eyeshadow, liner, mascara etc. can be washed away with soap and water, while waterproof formulas or any shadows applied on top of a primer can only be dissolved with an oil-based remover.
i love the Mary Kay pink kind, it does not leave a gready residue behind and takes off everything without heavy rubbing.
